How You Walk Can Reveal a Lot About You!
Your character is revealed step by step. Research is not entirely unanimous on this, but it is currently assumed that mankind has been able to walk upright for almost four million years. This development was groundbreaking for the species we call modern-day humans. Since then, having two free hands has opened up a world of possibilities for us. A lot of modern psychology is dedicated to the connection between our style of walking and our personality. Many things are self-explanatory. For example, we can easily tell if someone is confident or depressed by the way they walk. But there is also much more to discover. In this article, we show you some different styles of walking and what they reveal about us.
1. The influencers.
This name does not necessarily mean that these people want to influence us by the way they walk. In terms of their character, they are very communicative people who can always spare a smile for strangers and a friendly hello for those they know. These influencers walk at a brisk pace which doesn't seem rushed. Their upper body remains straight and their head is held high. They are also not afraid to make eye contact with strangers. This makes them immediately likable and gives them a friendly, open-minded appearance. Some influencers also overdo it when engaging with others. They can quickly become exhausting and dominating for many people. When it comes to pushing their way to the center of the action, influencers don’t hold back. Their confidence is real and not fake whatsoever. This truly is a case where the hand fits the glove. Everyday examples include politicians and celebrities. They tend to have this trait in no small measure. If you want to improve your outward projection of confidence and external image, use these individuals as an example. You can train yourself to walk upright and taut with a more springy stride if you want to seem more self-confident and therefore attractive to those around you.
2. The supporters.
The supporters are characterized by a medium-fast pace and smooth movements. Their style of walking never seems hurried and their body language effortlessly adapts to their pace. With every step, their weight rests perfectly balanced on their legs. There is no bending forward or letting their shoulders hang down. They also like to make eye contact with strangers on the go and appear open to their surroundings. In contrast to the influencers, however, they do not overdo it when engaging with others. Supporters like to keep to themselves. They choose their inner circle very carefully and set clear priorities. These are not career driven people. They strive for a happy and content private life. Supporters prefer to be part of a group where they can contribute their skills towards common goals. They do still like recognition, even if they would never admit it or claim credit for it. The dynamic walking style of the Influencer might make supporters appear slow and unmotivated by comparison, but they are reach their destination just as well as anyone else. They're just more relaxed about it.
3. The peppy ones.
Anyone who stretches both arms out wide with each step and seems to swing them up with power and speed belongs to this group. The lively ones are always on the move: they appear sporty, well-trained and always in top form. In fact, it is good for our back health if we can let both arms swing freely while walking. The muscle groups that are used for this movement tend to wither away or at the very least become tense, especially in people with a sedentary lifestyle. So the shoulders and lower back must be in good shape to keep up with these individuals. They are people with very active personalities who love to get around, both when it comes to walking and being with other people. Doing new things is attractive for them and they don’t like to get tied down doing one thing for too long. They appear very self-confident about their environment and in most cases they are.
4. The cautious.
Each step is placed precisely one after the other. The eyes remain on the ground and there is looking up or getting distracted. The cautious walkers among us always seem slightly hesitant and on edge. They reject multitasking and, when walking, concentrate fully on the route ahead of them. These cautious people are usually polite and reserved. They always treat others as they would like to be treated. However, their introverted nature sometimes means that they are unable to articulate their needs and desires. They may also assume that one should be able to read them from their eyes, which of course is rarely the case. This misjudgment means that their lives can sometimes be complicated and chaotic. If you don't ask for anything, you don’t get anything. If they are not careful, they quickly become easy prey for those around them. As is well known, caution is often interpreted as a weakness and restraint as a handicap.
5. The drivers.
As the name suggests, we are dealing with a particularly snappy sole here that is shown in every step. People with this walking style always seem to be in a hurry, even when they have all the time in the world at their disposal. Theupper body always leans slightly forward when you walk fast, like runners fighting a strong headwind. These people invariably look like forwards on a soccer field, except that they're also making phone calls, sending text or voice messages, and having lively conversations with their companions. Drivers are the multitaskers among us. Their demeanor does not give credit to ambitions and enormous enthusiasm. They are ambitious, goal-oriented and well organized. To think that they're late is misleading. Their fast walking pace is more due to the many ideas in her head that the body has to keep up with. No wonder, then, that the drivers among us are very productive and can usually represent the more intelligent members of our species. They skilfully avoid obstacles and take the shortest possible route.
Today's Conclusion
Show me how you walk. Step by step, we move through our lives. From learning our first wobbly step to our last, it's estimated that we take two hundred and twenty million steps. Not all of them will be easy for us. We can count ourselves lucky if we can take them without fear and pain. Our posture contributes a lot to how we feel and how we appear to those around us. If you want to work on this, it is best to start with your own way of walking. A straight back, looking ahead and tight shoulders are clear signs of a self-confident appearance. On the other hand, if you literally let yourself go and pay no attention to your posture, you will not leave a positive impression. By paying attention to our steps, we pay attention to ourselves. That's it for today. Thank you and see you soon.
